Defining a satisfactory condition
The site closure plan aims to return the site to a satisfactory condition by:
- Eliminating unacceptable health risks and ensuring public safety
- Limiting the production and spread of contaminants that could damage the receiving environment, with the long-term goal of removing any need for maintenance and monitoring
- Returning the site to a visually acceptable condition (restoration)
- Making infrastructure areas (excluding tailings ponds and waste rock piles) suitable for future use (rehabilitation)
