“Assay on the Ground”: UMA S.A's mobile traceability technology for buying gold and diamonds on site.

To address the crucial issue of traceability and internal controls in the artisanal mining value chain, in Cameroon and across Africa, UMA S.A has developed an innovative digital technology: “Assay on the Ground”, or “AOG”.

It is developed in partnership with the Chinese company MAXUS (factory production of armoured mobile vehicles for on-site traceability and collection of mining products) and the UAE-based DTI GROUP (helicopters, cargo aircraft for transporting and shipping minerals, private jets).

What does AOG involve?

On-site melting, assaying and purchase of gold, in an armoured mobile vehicle or a helicopter
Laser scanning with a laptop (SCANOX) including ROUGH PLANNING SYSTEM, and on-site purchase of diamonds in an armoured mobile vehicle or a helicopter

What AOG aims for

The technical ability to accurately assay each piece in the field, step by step, track the supply chain from source to market and deliver to the market or to private buyers.
Collaborative organisation of the gold and diamond value chains at local level.
Loans and technical assistance for small-scale miners to improve and increase their production.
An integrated value chain for large private buyers and large-scale miners working with artisanal miners.
Financing and cash flow for socio-economic and business development.
Tailor-made facilities (mobile and fixed) for melting and assaying gold, or stand-alone software for use in an existing gold smelter or refinery.
